Course Aim:
The Trig Instruments Industry Triaing Course: Locating Underground Services: Theory, Practice and Safety - aims to ensure users are competent to plan, organise, manage & undertake work, where there is a risk of contact with underground energy sources or services, using cable avoidance tools & signal generators.

Course Objectives:
On completion of this course you will:
  • Understand the theory behind the operation of a Cable Avoidance Tools & Signal Generators (CAT & GENNY).
  • Learn to use Cable Avoidance Tools & Signal Generators (CAT & GENNY) to locate, pinpoint & trace underground services.
  • Learn to safely conduct activities in accordance with NZ law .

    Training Methods:
    Classroom based presentation on power-point and practical experience, locating underground services in the field.

    Who Should Attend?
    Employees (managers, supervisors & operators) who are required to plan, organise, manage or undertake work, where there is a risk of contact with buried energy sources or services.

  • Certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete this course.
  • Learners must have their own safety equipment, appropriate to the area training is taking place (e.g. Safety Footwear, High Visibility Vest etc.).
